BANGOR, ME - TermLimitPledge.org applauds Dale Crafts, former member of the Maine House of Representatives, for taking the Term Limit Pledge!
Crafts is challenging incumbent Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) in Maine’s 2nd congressional district.
“More than 80% of voters are in favor of term limits for Congress” said Stephen Bosch, Executive Director of TermLimitPledge.org. “We’re encouraged to see more candidates like Dale Crafts who agree with the majority of voters that we need term limits now and are committing to use their time in office to serve the people, rather than further their own careers.”
The Term Limit Pledge, delivered to all ME-2 candidates, states:
“I am a candidate for the United States House of Representatives. I hereby pledge that my primary motive for running is to serve the people. To assure the voters of this, I also pledge that, if elected, I will serve no more than three 2-year terms and will never sell political influence (become a lobbyist).”
Research has shown candidates who sign the Term Limit Pledge can receive up to a 10% bump in polls, which could end up playing a decisive role in the race for Maine’s 2nd District. The Cook Political Report currently rates the seat a toss-up.
TermLimitPledge.org is a nonpartisan 501(c)4 nonprofit organization dedicated to making Congress a more representative and accountable institution through self-imposed term limits. This mission is carried out by empowering voters with tools and resources for direct civic engagement, most notably the Term Limit Pledge.
